Banana League Baseball

A fan edition of Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball where you win the inning, not the runs. Ball four is a footrace, the fans can catch you out, and the clock is always running. Bring your own copy and play it right here.

Free, unofficial, made for the SNES.

You'll need the ROM (USA, Rev 1). It's checked and patched here and never leaves this device.

What you need

Your own copy of Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, USA version, Rev 1, as a .sfc, .smc or .zip file. The site checks it before patching:

The ROM is read and patched in your browser. It is never uploaded, and this site does not host the game.

How it plays

  • Win the inning, get the point. Most points wins. In the last inning, every run counts.
  • A two-hour clock. No new inning starts after two hours, unless it's tied.
  • No walks. Ball four is a sprint: the batter runs while all nine fielders have to touch the ball.
  • Steal first. Take off on a caught pitch. Bunting gets you tossed.
  • Fans catch fouls for outs. Your best bat can jump the order once a game.
  • Ties end in a showdown, one hitter against a shrinking defense.
  • A six-club league with 15, 30 or 60-game seasons, the top four into the playoffs, and a trophy worth dancing for. Every player is invented.

Controls

A USB or Bluetooth gamepad works too: press a button on it once the game is running. On a phone or tablet, an on-screen controller appears under the game, and steps aside while a gamepad is connected.

Saves

Whenever the game saves your season, this device keeps it. Back it up as a file to move it to another device.
